Frequently Asked Questions

Minimum order quantity is 300 for CD or DVD replication runs and 50 for CD or DVD short runs.

By using the "Get in touch to place an order" button located next to most products. You will then be taken to the Order Details page, where you will be able to fill in all relevant information about your order. You can also call us at 650.344-0456. We will then set up an order in our system and email you a link to an UPLOAD folder for your art files and audio master. For audio we prefer to receive a DDP master. If you only have individual WAVE files, please upload those (they should be 44.1-16 bit WAVEs with pauses between tracks included at the end of files). Please label your audio files with a number prefix (01, 02, 03, etc.) and use the full name of the song titles, including desired capitalization.

Standard turnaround time is 10-12 business days. Rush orders are available for an additional fee. UPS Ground shipping times depend on your location.

Yes — a free barcode is included with every CD, DVD and Vinyl order. Whether you're selling through retail stores, online platforms, or distributors, your product will be ready to scan right out of the box.

Every CD, Vinyl Record and DVD deserves an eye-catching and professional looking package. At Sienna Digital, we can create that special design for you. Along with your pictures we will use images and textures from our extensive stock library to enhance and complete the design. We are also very good at listening to your requests and suggestions, and throughout the design process you will be in close contact with the design team to assure a smooth workflow.

Absolutely. If you have your own designer, simply download our templates to ensure your files are set up correctly, and send us a press-quality PDF at 300 dpi resolution or higher. We will review your files for accuracy and send you PDF files for approval. Hard copy proofs of your printed materials are available at an extra charge and add 3-4 business days to your production schedule.

To prepare your artwork for CD manufacturing, download our design templates, design in CMYK or Greyscale at 300 dpi or higher resolution. Make sure to include "bleed" and keep important elements like text inside the "safe" area, as indicated in our templates. Save your final artwork as a press-quality PDF (PDF/X-4).

Replication is the professional manufacturing process used for runs of 300 or more. Your audio data is stamped directly into the disc during pressing, producing a factory-quality CD that meets retail standards. Duplication is used for smaller runs of 50–300 units — data is burned onto a recordable disc. Both processes produce excellent results; replication is simply more cost-effective at higher quantities.

For most independent artists, 100–300 CDs is a solid starting point for a debut release — enough for live shows, press copies, and online sales. If you are pressing 500 or more, replication brings the per-unit cost down significantly. We are happy to help you think through the right quantity for your release strategy — just get in touch.

Digipaks and eco-wallets are the most popular choices among independent artists because they look and feel premium without a high price tag. Jewel cases are the most recognisable format and still very popular. Jewel cases can also accommodate a larger booklet. If you are looking for something special, we offer Digibooks and Clamboxes, hardcover packages that really stand out at the merch table. We recommend looking at our templates to get a feel for the formats before you decide.

Yes. Every CD we manufacture comes wrapped and with a free barcode and meets the requirements of retail chains, distributors, and online platforms including Amazon and CD Baby.

Absolutely. Many artists start with a short run of 100 - 300 CDs to test the waters, then reorder once they sell through. Keep in mind that per-unit costs decrease with higher quantities, so if you know you will need more, ordering a larger run upfront can save money in the long run.
